Alex G Las Vegas Concert reviews
Paisley saves the evening
Alex G is undeniably one of the great live musical performers wherever you go. His infectious lyrics, great emotion, lots of fun, and a warmth you don't get from many performers fill his shows. We've seen him multiple times and will do so again.
The opening acts, however, were a different story.
Tyler Farr was dreadful and boring, delivering the same old redneck songs with an absolutely horrible audio mix. It was impossible to make out 3/4 of the words, leaving many of us feeling bored. Maddie & Tae, while cute and popish, were not very memorable at this early stage of their careers. They sounded good but lacked that "WOW" factor expected of opening acts.
The show itself was almost like a "Greatest Hits" tour following his most recent one, with nothing original and plenty of sing-alongs. It was disappointing not to hear "Moonshine in the Trunk", and the show was shorter than desired at just around 90 minutes. However, not everyone is Springsteen playing for three hours!
The audio mix for both opening acts was subpar, with the singers barely audible above the instruments, resulting in a muddled and unrecognizable sound. The amphitheater being outdoors meant no breeze or fans under the awning, leading to a sweaty and uncomfortable experience. Dress casually and bring a change of clothes for the ride home to avoid the discomfort.
VIP Parking passes offer a guaranteed spot but are tightly packed with no room to sit alongside your car. If you plan to tailgate, bring an EZ Up for shade to escape the sweltering heat. The venue being sponsored by Pepsi means limited tap beer selection and overpriced drinks, leaving many to settle for frozen lemonade to avoid the pricey options.
Overpriced and Hard to See
Tonight was packed, with no empty seats in my section. Last year, he canceled his arena tour because he wanted to have a bigger venue. As far as his performance, it was incredible, with a great set list and great energy.
We sat in section 120 close to the floor but found it extremely difficult to see Alex G's performance. He didn’t have the Jumbotrons on, and my section didn’t have visibility to the side screens he had set up. The experience, however, fell short after not being able to see him.
I’ve seen Katy Perry and Demi Lovato for the same price tickets and had better visibility & floor seats. I blame his production team for their failure to set up a pleasurable viewing experience. I can’t even imagine what the people in the nosebleeds saw.
